TRADES & CONTRACTORS

Contractor & tradesperson insurance

GL, workers comp, commercial auto, tools, bonds — the policies that keep a job moving.

General liability, workers compensation, commercial auto, inland marine for tools and equipment, surety and license bonds, pollution liability — written by people who run a GC and have actually filed these claims.

What's in the policy

  • General liability — class-coded correctly the first time, covering completed-ops and products
  • Workers compensation — properly classified to keep the experience mod from getting away from you
  • Commercial auto — owned, hired, and non-owned (HNOA) for owner-operators, single-truck, or fleets
  • Inland marine — tools, equipment, materials in transit, scheduled equipment lists
  • Bonds — surety, performance, payment, and license/permit bonds for licensed trades
  • Pollution liability — for plumbing, HVAC, environmental, or anything that disturbs hazardous materials
  • Builders risk — for the GCs and remodelers running active jobs
  • Professional liability / E&O — design-build, engineers, architects
Who it's for: GCs, remodelers, electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, roofers, masons, painters, landscapers, environmental contractors, and the subs who back them up.
FAQ

Questions other trades operators ask

Do you write GL for sole proprietors and 1099s?
Yes. We write GL for everything from a one-truck operator to crews of 50+. We'll size the limits to your actual exposure — not whatever last year's policy renewed at.
What about workers comp for a tiny shop?
If you have employees in PA, NJ, NY, or most other states, you legally need it — even one. We write WC for shops as small as a single non-owner employee, and price it against the exact class code your trade falls in.
Can I bundle commercial auto with my general liability?
Almost always, yes — and you usually save 5–15% doing it. We'll quote both and show you the side-by-side.
What's the deal with HNOA?
HNOA = Hired and Non-Owned Auto. If your employees ever drive their own vehicles for work — picking up materials, running to a supply house — your GL doesn't cover them. HNOA endorsement does. Most contractors are exposed and don't know it.
